Lehmann, Glady I. (Marriage - 29 June
1957)
In a ceremony performed at the Zion
Lutheran Church, Granton, June 29, Miss Glady I. Lehmann of Green
Bay, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Lehmann of Granton, was
married to Melvin R. Smith, Appleton. Mrs. Matie Smith of
Humbird is the mother of the groom. The Rev. Arthur Oswald read the
double ring ceremony before an altar decorated with pink and white
flowers. Sections of a white picket fence were similarly
decorated. The bride, who was given in marriage by her father,
repeated her vows before 225 guests.
The bride chose a floor-length long
sleeved gown of embroidered tulle, styled with a Queen Anne collar
and a fitted, long torso. The front of the skirt was of pleated net
over satin, while the back was of ruffled tiers of embroidered
tulle that came to a whisper train over satin. Her fingertip veil
was caught in a diamond-studded crown. The bridal flowers
were white stephanotis, Amazon lilies, and trailing green ivy
fashioned in a crescent-shaped bouquet. She wore an emerald
birthstone ring with a white gold setting, a gift of the groom, and
the groom wore a garnet and white gold ring, gift of the
bride.
Mrs. Mortimer Sheffloe, Fremont, Neb.,
sister of the bride, served as matron of honor. The
bridesmaids were Mrs. Rudy Dageforde, the bride’s sister, and
Mrs. Dennis Potvin, sister of the groom, both of St. Paul. Carole
Lehmann attended her sister as a junior bridesmaid. Everett
Smith was his brother’s bestman. The ushers were a
brother of the bride, James Lehmann of Schenectady, N. Y., and Herb
Hahn, friend of the groom, of River Falls.
Organ music was provided by Mrs. Clarence Pannier with Wayne Salter
singing "The Lord’s Prayer."
A wedding supper for 225 guests was
served in the Granton Community Hall. The decorations there
were pink and white flowers and ribbons and white wedding
bells.
Mr. and Mrs. Smith will be at home, after
July 15, at 12107 Day Street Green Bay. Their wedding trip took
them to Yellowstone National Park and the Grand Teton mountains in
Wyoming.
Mrs. Smith is a graduate of Granton High
School and received a Bachelor of Science Degree from Wisconsin
State College, Stevens Point, in 1955. She has since been
employed as a dramatics and English teacher at Preble High School
in Green Bay. The groom was graduated from Humbird High
School and is employed by the Wisconsin Bell Telephone Company in
Appleton.
Relatives attending from out of town were: Capt. and Mrs. Raimon Lehmann, Washington, D.C.; Mr. and Mrs. James Lehmann, Schenectady, N. Y.; Mrs. Elroy Lehmann, Middletown, Conn.; Mr. and Mrs. Rudy Dageforde, St. Paul, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Mortimer Sheffloe, Fremont, Neb.; and Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Potvin, St. Paul, Minn.
